Overview
KeyboardShortcut is a Chrome browser extension that lets you set keyboard shortcuts to redirect browser tabs to websites of your choice. This privacy policy explains what data the extension does and does not collect.
Data we collect
None. KeyboardShortcut does not collect, transmit, share, or sell any personal data. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking of any kind.
Data stored locally
The extension stores the following information locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API:
- The URLs you configure as redirect destinations
- The keyboard shortcuts you assign
- Your on/off toggle state
- Your chosen tab behavior (current tab, new tab, or close all)
This data is synced across your Chrome profile by Google's own sync infrastructure if you have Chrome Sync enabled. We have no access to it — it never leaves your browser or Google's sync service.
Permissions used
- tabs — required to navigate or close browser tabs when a shortcut is triggered.
- storage — required to save your shortcut configuration locally.
- scripting — required to inject the keyboard listener into already-open tabs when the extension is installed or updated.
- host access (<all_urls>) — required so the keyboard listener can run on any page you visit, allowing shortcuts to fire from any website.
None of these permissions are used to read, collect, or transmit your browsing data.
Third-party services
The extension does not communicate with any third-party servers, APIs, or analytics services. There are no ads, no affiliate links, and no monetisation of your data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note the change in the extension's release notes.
